The training workshop on Environmental and Social Risks Analysis was held on 23 April 2013 in Mumbai, India. The workshop is the first session of sustainability series convened by United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and YES BANK. The Sustainability Series is the first ever initiative in India, focusing on increasing Environment & Social Risk Awareness in the financial sector. The aim of the workshop is to sensitize risk managers across the financial sector towards E&S risks of their clients and/or investment partners. Participants are oriented towards practical mechanisms and tools for implementation of the risk evaluation methods, including case-study based exercises and activities. 180 participants for the inaugural session and 44 participants for the workshop from leading Financial Institutions in India attended the event. Enthusiastic participation was seen from leading public and private Financial Institutions like SBI Capital, ICICI, HDFC, RBS, Axis Bank, LIC, IDBI, IDFC, IL&FS, CITI Union, FirstRand Bank, IIFCL, L&T Finance, Ratnakar Bank, KPMG, United India Insurance, Birla Sun Life and YES BANK.
