Taller Introductorio de Capacitación sobre Cambio Climático y Biodiversidad: Riesgos y Oportunidades para el sector financiero en Chile

El Taller Introductorio de Capacitación sobre “Cambio Climático y Biodiversidad: Riesgos y Oportunidades para el sector financiero en Chile” se llevó a cabo por la primera vez el viernes 20 de octubre en Santiago de Chile. El taller fue organizado por ONU Medio Ambiente Iniciativa Financiera (UNEP FI) y la Iniciativa Finanzas para la Biodiversidad PNUD BIOFIN de Chile.
El objetivo del evento era sensibilizar al personal de las instituciones financieras chilenas sobre la importancia de los impactos negativos del cambio climático en la economía del país y la biodiversidad, identificando los sectores económicos más vulnerables en este contexto. Al mismo tiempo, buscaba evaluar junto con los participantes, herramientas que permitirían a las entidades financieras gestionar los potenciales riesgos en sus carteras de negocios y considerar las oportunidades, a partir de la necesidad de preservar la biodiversidad y enfrentar las consecuencias del cambio climático.
El taller contó con 30 participantes que representaban no solo a entidades financieras con operaciones en Chile sino también a diversas entidades públicas y privadas del país relacionadas con los aspectos del Cambio Climático y la Biodiversidad.
El taller presencial estuvo orientado a funcionarios de las áreas de análisis de riesgo crediticio y comercial de las entidades financieras que operan en Chile.

Introductory Training Workshop on Climate Change and Biodiversity: Risks and Opportunities for the Financial Sector in Chile
An Introductory Training Workshop on “Climate Change and Biodiversity: Risks and Opportunities for the Financial Sector in Chile” took place for the first time on October 20th in Santiago, Chile. The workshop was organized by UNEP FI and UNDP BIOFIN Chile.
The objective of the event was to sensitize the staff of Chilean financial institutions on the importance of the negative impacts of climate change on the country’s economy and biodiversity, identifying the most vulnerable economic sectors in this context. At the same time, it seeked to evaluate together with the participants, tools that would allow financial institutions to manage potential risks in their business portfolios and consider opportunities, based on the need to preserve biodiversity and face the consequences of climate change.
The workshop had 30 participants representing not only financial entities with operations in Chile but also various public and private entities in the country related to the aspects of Climate Change and Biodiversity.
The face-to-face workshop was aimed at officials in the areas of credit and commercial risk analysis of financial institutions operating in Chile.
