UNEP FI, together with Signatories TSKB and Garanti Bankasi made the case for sustainable banking during the training ‘Improving the environmental governance in the banking sector in Turkey; introduction to green banking’ held in Istanbul on 5 July 2012. The training was organized by the Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production of the Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP CP/RAC) with the support of the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE) in the framework of the EU-funded Horizon 2020 Capacity Building/ Mediterranean Environment Programme. The training provided the opportunity for representatives from public and private entities to exchange insights on how the banking sector can support the transition towards a green economy.
