Support Programme 2022-2023
UNEP FI offers a series of regional activities and translated materials to support signatories in understanding and implementing the Principles for Responsible Banking. These activities consider the region’s realities and priorities.
In 2022-2023, UNEP FI’s regional support programme is supporting banks in defining their climate and health and financial inclusion targets through a series of virtual workshops, webinars, individual support and peer exchanges.
Climate-related targets setting foundation workshops
Objective: To provide banks with practical approaches to set climate change mitigation targets, in line with their commitment to using the Principles for Responsible Banking and aligning their strategies and actions with Paris Agreement goals, with a specific focus on connecting the dots EU regulation for those impacted institutions.
Platform: A series of virtual workshops organized regularly throughout the year, you will receive invitations directly in your inbox.

Programme:
Workshop I: Climate Target Setting Foundations – Equipping banks with the knowledge to set their emissions reduction targets, including:
- Understanding the landscape
- Alignment to global and regional climate frameworks (with case studies)
- Link to policy and regulation
- Tools and methodologies
- Measure & disclose financed emissions
- Methodology
- Data sources and examples
Workshop II: Measuring financed emissions: Deepening banks’ knowledge on measuring their financed emissions with PCAF.
Practical exercise: Before the final workshop, banks who plan to set mitigation targets will be expected to work on a practical exercise, to provide insights for the next session and to inform climate target setting.
Workshop III: Wrapping up climate target setting: Review of practical exercises and discussing key challenges.

Health and Financial Inclusion-related targets setting foundation workshops (2023)
Objective: To provide banks with practical approaches to set health and financial inclusion targets, in line with their commitment to use the Principles for Responsible Banking to align their strategies and actions with Paris Agreement goals.
