12 May, 2004 | Sofia, Bulgaria Representatives from 11 financial institutions met in Sofia to discuss the aims and activities of the newly formed Central and Eastern European Task Force. The meeting was kindly hosted by the Bulgarian subsidiary of the Greek-based Emporiki Bank. The aim of the meeting was to define the Task Force’s work programme as well as communication and working mechanisms for the group. The group agreed that the task force should focus on raising awareness of sustainable finance in the region, facilitate the management of environmental credit risks and set up a training program for sustainable finance in CEE. The Task Force elected Mark King (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) Chair of the group and Stella Kovlaka (Emporiki Bank) Co-Chair. The Task Force has decided to convene a second meeting in Budapest, September 28, 2004.
