The US Green Building Council hosted the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Denver, Colorado. The PWG’s Advisor, Dr Gary Pivo (Professor, University of Arizona), took part in a panel entitled “Global Responses to Climate Change.” Other panelists included representatives from the UNEP Sustainable Building and Construction Initiative (SBCI), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBSCD), and Skanska Construction. The WBSCD presented its Energy Efficiency in Buildings initiative that brings together companies worldwide, which are determined to remove barriers to energy-efficient concepts in new and existing buildings. The SBCI focused on preliminary results from an upcoming report on buildings and climate change. Skanska discussed what is motivating it to become more sustainable and Dr. Pivo presented plans for the Property Working Group in the coming year.
