Brief Overview of Organization and Summary of Sustainability Strategy
Danske Bank is the largest bank in Denmark and a leading player in the Scandinavian financial markets. The Danske Bank Group – which includes Danske Bank, Realkredit Danmark, Danica Pension, Nordania Leasing and a number of other subsidiaries – offers a wide range of financial services, including insurance, mortgage finance, asset management, brokerage, real estate and leasing services.
With more than 21,000 employees in 10 countries, Danske Bank Group serves 3.3 million personal and business customers and more than 2000 large corporate and institutional customers – across eight markets.
Our purpose is to release the potential in people and businesses by using the power of finance to create sustainable progress today and for generations to come. We believe that including sustainability in all aspects of our business is fundamental to creating lasting value for all our stakeholders.
As part of this commitment, Danske Bank joined the Principles for Responsible Banking as a founding signatory in 2019. Moreover, we are committed to supporting the transition to a net-zero carbon emissions future, and we have been part of the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance since 2020 as well as the Net-Zero Banking Alliance and Net Zero Asset Managers Initiative since 2021. We have a target to reduce the carbon-emission in our corporate lending portfolio in three key sectors by 20-50% against a 2020-baseline, and reduce the weighted average carbon intensity of our investment products by at least 50% against a 2020-baseline.
