The UNEP Finance Initiative Regional Roundtable in Africa and Middle East will be held on the 10th and 11th of April 2019  at the Nile Ritz-Carlton in Cairo, Egypt.

The biennial Regional Roundtable will bring together UNEP FI members and sustainable finance practitioners for two days of insights into advances in sustainable finance. The event will provide insight into key developments such as the benefits of sustainable finance integration in national economies in Africa and Middle East, uptake and implementation of the Principles for Responsible Banking, positive impact measurement and growth, delivering resilient infrastructure with insurers and investors, climate related disclosures, natural capital stress testing as well

UNEP FI member banks worldwide have developed global Responsible Banking Principles that will define the banking industry’s role and responsibilities in aligning financing with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Agreement on Climate Change. The draft Principles were launched in November 2018, and are currently open for consultation until 31 May. In this session we hear from the founding banks on how they expect the Principles to change the way they do business. UNEP FI will also present on the Principles.

The climate tools workshop will bring together investors, banks and regulators to focus on fostering interaction between the participants, developing a more comprehensive understanding of their needs for climate-related tools, as well as to showcase and gather feedback on existing and emerging tools. InvECAT, PACTA, and TCFD-relevant tools will be explored. Participants will be invited to share input and ‘co-create’ the functionality of the InvECAT tool.
