The Outreach Group of UNEP FI’s Asia Pacific Task Force organised a workshop on sustainable finance in Mumbai, India. The workshop was attended by more than 30 participants from local and international financial institutions, regulatory bodies and non-governmental organisations. The workshop, which was opened by Paul Clements-Hunt, Head, UNEP Finance Initiative, included presentations on sustainable finance, corporate social responsibility and sustainable reporting and public-private partnerships as the new realm of financial mechanisms. This workshop was organised in collaboration with ABN AMRO Bank N.V. Speakers included:

  • Robert Tacon, Standard Chartered Bank
  • Katsuhiko Okazaki, Japan Bank for International Cooperation
  • Melissa Brown, Association for Sustainable & Responsible Investment in Asia (ASrIA)
  • Prasad Modak, Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS)
  • Sonalal Datta, State Bank of India

Panel discussions were moderated by Jeff Wagner, Financial Times and KS Subramanian, Symbiosis A CEO Luncheon, sponsored by YES BANK Limited, which aimed to sensitise senior management on India’s sustainability challenge and the risks and opportunities faced by the financial sector, was held in parallel. Follow up activities to UNEP FI’s outreach in India will now be discussed within the Asia Pacific Task Force.
