November 2001 | Marrakech, Morocco Key Documents
Overview
Building on the success of the
UNEP FI Climate Change Working Group Side Event at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Sixth Conference of the Parties (COP 6 / Part 2) in Bonn, the member companies of the
UNEP FI Climate Change Working Group presented a follow on event at the
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Seventh Conference of the Parties (COP 7), in Marrakech, Morocco. Their message to the negotiators was clear and simple: Leading finance companies are ready with financial products and services for greenhouse gas emission reductions. They strongly support the Kyoto Protocol and call on governments to establish feasible long-term frameworks based on market mechanisms to tackle climate change. The group’s new position paper was presented during the special event, as was the launch of a study on “Greenhouse Gas Market Frameworks”.
